The idea for the music box coming to life has been taken from inspiration such as Jessie J's Price Tag & The Mighty Boosh sketch, Eels.Eels also represents the hyper-reality of my idea. Also Florence And The Machine - Spectrum
The idea for walking through a busy city could be taken from the video Another Chance by Roger Sanchez. In that video, she holds a large plastic heart which is the metaphorical representation of the love in her heart. The heart become smaller and smaller as she walks along the street. Relating this to my idea, the heart is replaced with despration, the male main character is desperate to become close to and save the ballerina in the music box. The shrinking of the heart is replaced with the distance between him and the ballerina and how close he is to saving her.
The idea for walking down the street also comes from The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony. He is represented as an individual, you can very much tell that he isn't integrated into the other pedestrians, the focus is on him.
When the ballerina in the idea for my video is at the beginning, i picture her dancing alone on a very plain background in a room on her own with either a white background or the superimposed image of the inside of a music box behind her. In Shinedown's video 'Second Chance' the girl dancing in her garage reminds me of what I had in mind.
